Brendan Alex Phoenix is a multi-disciplinary photographic artist whose work centers on both fine art landscapes and abstract photography known as BAPstracts (pronounced bap-stracts).

Brendan holds a degree in Environmental Studies, and his landscape work reflects that foundation. His photography captures natural scenes free of human presence in order to highlight the spirit, majesty, and quiet solitude of the outdoors. Using a tripod, he waits patiently, witnessing the landscape before him, ready to capture a sequence of moments through his digital camera. Sometimes he combines multiple exposures and blends them in post-processing to achieve his artistic vision. He offers his landscapes as handmade greeting cards, fine art prints, and free digital wallpapers.

His abstract work, called BAPstracts, grew out of years photographing sunlight reflecting off ocean waves during sunset using intentional camera movement. These images are not documentation, but transformation: shimmering abstractions that visualize the meeting of elemental forces. Brendan carefully selects a handful of photographs from a session—often narrowing down from hundreds taken during a single 20-minute window. Each image in the Stripes series comes from a single photograph. The circular Now Clocks use similar selections and incorporate symbolic elements to emphasize a timeless present.

Influenced by his years living in South Korea and inspired by a deep interest in time, physics, and connection, Brendan approaches photography as a conceptual medium—one that can visualize spacetime itself.

BAPstracts aim to bridge distance: between people, between moments, between dimensions. They are timeless reminders of connection.
