Nestucca Valley Artisans (NVA for short) was born from a simple wish to form a support group for South Tillamook County visual artists and craftsmen.
The group’s first art festival was held in March of 1994. This event coincided with Spring Break and the first weekend of whale watching on the coast. Today the Nestucca Valley Artisans’ ART FESTIVAL is held annually during the third weekend of August.
Since it’s foundation, the Nestucca Valley Artisans have given back to the community through art scholarships for graduating seniors at Nestucca High School, by supporting arts education for children and donations to the local library.
After many years of connecting local artists with one another and the wider community, Nestucca Valley Artisans became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Its membership has grown to include many artists, but the focus is still on the the Nestucca Valley and the various nearby coastal wonders.
Founded 1993
Nestucca
Nestucca (pronounced neh-STUH-ca)is the name of the river that flows through Pacific City to the Pacific Ocean. Named after the Stagaush people who lived here prior to the arrival of settlers.
Valley
From Neskowin to the south and Sandlake to the north, this area was the original boundary for Nestucca Valley Artisans. Membership has since grown to encompass a larger artistic community, all with a connection of the heart and to the esthetics of the Pacific City Community.
Artisans
Our members are the lifeblood of the organization. Meetings are informal and everyone is encouraged to share their artistic visions. We gather to socialize, learn, and sell our artwork.
